Swimming Pool

CURRENTLY UNDER RESTORATION

Designed by Jacques Gréber together with the adjacent tennis courts, croquet lawn and boules court, the Swimming Pool at Villa Reale in Marlia was built in 1928 at the behest of the Countess Anna Laetizia Pecci-Blunt.

The idea was to create a dedicated sports area in a modern style in this part of the park. The Swimming Pool, with its unusual Art Nouveau changing rooms and original wooden diving board, was highly innovative in its time for its powerful water heating system.

The tall holm-oak and bay hedges ensured the privacy of the illustrious individuals who visited. Some of the most celebrated figures in the world of art and literature whiled away carefree days on this patio, including Salvador Dalì and Alberto Moravia.
