The Christmas magic in Tuscany is just 7 km from the walls of Lucca: the fourth edition of the ‘Magical Christmas’ at Villa Reale di Marlia enchants with lights, atmospheres, scents, and traditions, with the special winter opening calendar of the royal residence and the park of Elisa Bonaparte and Maria Luisa of Bourbon. On the Christmas weekends, visitors can step into the fairy tale with a series of breathtaking views: the baroque and neoclassical green architectures and perspectives of the gardens redesigned by hundreds of thousands of colored lights and videomapping that will guide both adults and children on an exciting visit.
To experience the magic of Christmas in Tuscany, combining it with a visit to the historic center of Lucca, the opportunity is perfect already for the Immaculate Conception weekend: Saturday, December 6th and Sunday, December 7th and Monday, December 8th from 2 PM to 8 PM, the gates of Villa Reale di Marlia will open. Visitors will be welcomed by the scents of spiced wine, hot chocolate, Christmas sweets, and burning wood in the Nordic braziers where delicious marshmallows can be roasted. The Per San Pietro Committee will roast the mondine, with the proceeds going to charity. Also, on Saturday, December 6th, starting at 4 PM, for the first time, the fairy tale “Saint Nicholas and the Devil” will arrive at Villa Reale thanks to the costumed actors of the Anonima Teatranti troupe.
Every afternoon during the event, you can experience the magic of Christmas throughout the Villa Reale complex: Santa Claus and his elves will be waiting for the little ones at the Palazzina dell’Orologio area, accompanied by the faithful pony from the Le Ville Ranch, dressed for the occasion, who will hop around the park’s avenues; there will also be creative workshops organized by the Acchiappasogni Association in the Blue Room, and both adults and children can enjoy over forty large wooden games suitable for all ages before or after the family Christmas activity: collecting magical stamps among surprises and hidden treasures in the enchanted park of Villa Reale.
It will also be the perfect opportunity to visit the museum interiors for a warm cultural break. Online ticket purchase is recommended.
