Our camellias, the real botanical ‘stars’ at Villa Reale, are in full bloom for the internationally-acclaimed exhibition. You can find some of the most typical camellias of the Lucca area within the Park. Elisa Bonaparte introduced over 40 varieties in 1808, when she ordered the delivery of various camellia japonica (amongst other plants for the gardens) from her brother Giuseppe, King of Naples, from the Palace of Caserta.
You can buy a joint ticket for this event together with the Exhibition at Sant’Andrea di Compito for the whole month of March.
